Peach Fruit – Spots and Rot

Q: This peach tree has been here many years. This is only my second year owning this property. Last year the peaches were delicious but looked a lot like they do in these pictures that I took today. What is causing this and how can I prevent it?

A: It looks like your peach fruit has both brown rot and scab diseases.

These fungal diseases are very common on peach fruit in Georgia and will usually cause crop failure if not prevented.

As many people have discovered, it is almost impossible to raise peaches successfully without spraying for diseases and insects each year.
