Students will be introduced to the basic botanical terminology used in identifying and describing fall-flowering plants, with an emphasis on the terminology unique to plants in the Aster (composite) Family. The 13th Annual Trees Atlanta Tree Sale & Festival will take place on Saturday October 13th, 2012. Each year, Trees Atlanta holds a tree sale that offers more than one thousand plants for purchase, in over 200 hard-to-find, native species. This year will have a birds, butterflies, and bees theme, providing a selection of native trees, shrubs, and perennials that attract wildlife and pollinators. The festival component will feature tree planting and pruning demonstrations, a petting zoo of kudzu-eating sheep, informative booths, pumpkin carving, music, a raffle, and more!

The Trees Atlanta Tree Sale supports Trees Atlanta’s volunteer tree planting and conservation program. Each year, Trees Atlanta’s 3,500 volunteers plant more than 2,000 trees in in-town communities and care for thousands of trees planted in recent years.

We’re very fortunate here in the South – we can grow vegetables all year long. Often we hang up our gloves and gardening trowel at the end of summer and begin to dream about next year’s warm weather garden.
Workshop 2 – October 16—What Can I Grow in the Middle of Winter?
During this workshop, we’ll discuss different vegetables to grow in our cold frame or hoop house, how to grow them, and how and when to harvest.
