Landscaping for Pollinators – 80% of the earth’s flowering plants rely on pollinators, primarily insects (such as bees, ants, flies, beetles, and wasps), to ensure reproduction. Pollinators have suffered declines in recent years prompting calls for strategies to help bolster their populations. There are a number of simple landscape measures that can be taken to help pollinators. An overview of enhancements for pollinator habitat will be presented along with highlights of some ongoing initiatives

Join Kurt Straudt of and see how a simple frame is transformed into a beautiful vertical garden that is a joy to view and share. You will decorate your own 12″x12″ wooden frame and fill it with colorful succulents for a one-of-kind piece of art that will grow for years to come. A variety of succulents will be provided. This is a material intensive class AND you must register 1 week in advance so we can get frames built. 5 person minimum. Advanced registration required.

Our first Live Butterfly Exhibit will open for the Flying Colors Butterfly Festival, and stay open until July 31. For a limited time, come out for a truly unique butterfly experience. Get nose to proboscis with hundreds of free flying, native butterfly species in this temporary live butterfly exhibit. Trial Gardens Open House

The Public Open House is going to be this weekend on Saturday, July 13th from 8 am to 2 pm. Please come to celebrate Dr. Armitage’s retirement and welcome incoming leader Dr. Ruter! $5 donation is requested, but parking will be free in lots around campus.
