Yellow Daisy Standard Flower Show

“Daisy Saddles Up” is the exciting theme for the 48th Annual Yellow Daisy Standard Flower Show located in Memorial Hall at Stone Mountain Park. It is held in conjunction with the 51st annual Yellow Daisy Festival. The standard flower show is a juried show with floral design entries and over 600 horticulture entries ranging from perennials to annual to herbs and vegetables. Sponsored by the Redbud District of the Garden club of Georgia,Inc., come see what is growing in Georgia in September!

To have a beautiful lawn next year, you need to start now, in the fall. Early fall is the only effective time of year to reseed or plant cool-season grass (tall fescue). If you have a warm-season grass (e.g. Bermuda, Zoysia), you need to take steps to prevent winter weed grasses from taking over. This class will cover warm-season vs cool-season grasses, importance of soil testing and adjusting pH, and fall/winter activities for each type of grass (fertilizing, watering and weed prevention).

This year’s Wildlife Sanctuary Tour includes seven stops along an 8-mile route through intown Atlanta. Each property provides four essential elements for attracting wildlife and birds: food sources (including at least 50% native plants), nesting sites, shelter, and water sources. The tour is self-guided, and visitors will see a wide variety of native plants in a diversity of settings that attract birds, butterflies, and other wildlife.
