Gerald Johnson will demonstrate dividing and planting iris at the historic Oakland Cemetery. This is the opportunity you have been requesting for a hands-on demonstration of what your iris need this season. We are partnering with the Oakland Foundation Gardens volunteers to divide, replant and or/ pot iris. They’d love to have whatever help our members or visitors feel like contributing as we are able. Bring your gloves. We will also have a business meeting in the meeting room.
Georgia Iris Society members Mary Bolton and Paul and Cookie Thomas donated many historic iris last year to the garden so we have a connection to the gardens. It is located at 248 Oakland Avenue Southeast, Atlanta, GA 30312. Established in 1850, the cemetery is 88 acres of historic monuments and beautiful gardens and plants.
Parking is in the adjacent parking lot or along one side of the roads through the cemetery. There will be a golf cart available to bring you from the parking lot to the meeting area if needed.
