“A Dynamic Stability, The Nature of Georgia’s Barrier Islands”: John Crawford will explain the “nature” of Georgia’s beautiful coastline. The story of these sandy isles begins millions of years ago and thousands of feet higher in elevation. The program will explain the origin and follow the long history of the coastal plain’s sand, clay and limestone. It will show and explain the succession of plant species and environmental forces that developed the current lush subtropical habitats we have.
