Date: 05 April 2011
Time: 7-9 pm
Location: Gwinnett Justice and Administration Building in Lawrenceville
The Greater Gwinnett Rose Society’s topic for the Tuesday, April 5th meeting will be Companion Gardening with Roses featuring Julie Morris Ivarie as the speaker. The meeting begins at 7:00 pm at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Building in Lawrenceville.
Julie Morris Ivarie, former President of the Northeast Georgia Rose Society, remembers enjoying picking and growing roses in her parents and grandparents gardens in Australia long before she started growing them herself in the United States. Julie uses an English Garden or mixed border approach with her primarily shrub roses, including David Austin roses. She has a low or no spray approach so she can incorporate not only annuals, perennials and bulbs but also herbs in theses mixed beds. Come hear and see how your roses can be friends with other plant material in a beautiful and mutually friendly cohabitation. Find out from Julie’s many years of trial and error which plants share a bed better than others.
The Greater Gwinnett Rose Society (GGRS) is open to anyone who enjoys roses and wants to learn more about them. Meetings are open to everyone at no cost. GGRS has Master and Consulting Rosarians who are available to consult about your roses. We meet at 7 pm on the first Tuesday of most months.
