“Planning and Installing a Fall Garden”
The Gwinnett Master Gardeners meeting will take place at a temporary location on July 18 at the George Pierce Park, 55 Hwy 23 NE, Suwanee, GA 30024 (770) 822-5414. There will be a covered dish dinner at 6:30, with the program following at 7 p.m. You are welcome to join us for dinner but please bring a dish to share; otherwise come for the program at 7 p.m.
Colleen Dudley, Senior Horticulturist at Atlanta Botanical Garden, will be the speaker at the Gwinnett Master Gardeners Meeting July 18, 2011, talking on “Planning and Installing a Fall Garden.” During this excessive hot weather, it will be great to be reminded that cooler weather is not so far away. Learn which cool season crops work well for our Georgia gardens, and even some that will overwinter. Get seed starting, fertilization and maintenance tips that will help you grow a healthy pest-free fall (and early spring) garden.
Colleen oversees and tends the Edible Garden at the Atlanta Botanical Garden, growing unusual garden favorities and surprising food crops. A degree in Horticulture from UGA and 7 years of experience professionally farming at ABG’s Children’s Garden have given her practical experience to helm the new Edible Garden. Come and learn with us!
