Once again the Gwinnett Master Gardener meeting on August 15th will take place in a temporary location at the George Pierce Park’s Senior Activity Center, 55 Hwy 23 NE, Suwanee, GA 30024 (770) 822-5414. There will be a covered dish dinner at 6:30, with the program following at 7 p.m. You are welcome to join us for dinner but please bring a dish to share; otherwise come for the program at 7 p.m.
Our speaker will be Aaron Poulsen who will present a program on Tree Inventories – Why and How. He explains that Urban Forestry is the discipline of caring for the trees that we work, live, and play among every day and that our urban forests are becoming more and more valued and are receiving the attention they deserve. He will show us how to improve and grow the canopy of our trees starting with taking a proper inventory of what we have. Come find out what is going on statewide and what you can do on the scale of your own urban forest.
Aaron Poulsen comes to us with a background in retail garden centers, public gardens, estate gardening, grounds management, and horticulture education. Aaron has been the Horticulture Program Director at Gwinnett Technical College since April of 2009. He is a Horticulturist, Georgia Certified Landscape Professional, Georgia Certified Plant Professional, and a Certified Irrigation Contractor. Come join us and learn more about our trees.
