Dogwood Blossoms
Q: Why do dogwoods in Florida only have white blossoms and no pink blossoms like some do here in Georgia? Is it the temperature or soil or something else?
A: My friend Tom Wichman, Florida Master Gardener Coordinator, says they do not get enough chill hours for pink dogwoods to bloom in Florida. White-flowered ‘Bay Beauty’ and ‘Weaver White’ do well in the upper half of the state. ‘Gulf Coast Pink’ is said to bloom in northern Florida only.
