Q: I have a question about a berry which grows in south Asian countries. I don’t know what it’s called in English, but its size is similar to a blueberry but its color is violet when ready to eat. In the Urdu language it’s called “falsa”. It is not sweet but very tasty. I think it grows in Mexico; it is a medium-size tree with a big leaf. Can you tell me if we can grow it in Georgia?
A: Your plant is Grewia subinaequalis
It might grow well in south Georgia but would probably get frozen in winter in Atlanta.
