Q: My daughter works in a hair salon. She recently asked me if I wanted her to bring me some hair for my garden. Apparently, there are people who regularly request hair to take home to put in their gardens to repel pests. Is there any validity to this practice?
A: Theresa Schrum replies: “Some gardeners use hair to repel rabbits and deer, but I can tell you from personal experience that it doesn’t work for long. They eventually get used to it.
The best way I have found to keep rabbits and especially deer from the garden is to use fencing.
