Q: I purchased a ‘Sango Kaku’ Japanese maple tree about 3′ tall but made the mistake of carrying it around in my car all afternoon and leaving it in the parked car some time. It looked fine that night but when I went to plant it the next day, many of the leaves had dried up.
Will the tree still be OK next year as long as I see some green leaves?
A: I’d plant it in bright shade, water it weekly and leave it be for this year. It may well come back for you.
