Ladybug (Lady Beetle) Larvae – Identification

Q: Any idea what these critters are? They seem to be multiplying on our vine on our arbor. Not sure if they are something to worry about.

A: You have some beautiful ladybug larvae! They develop eventually into beneficial ladybugs…so don’t hurt them. The larvae themselves consume aphids and other pests.

In the next week the larvae will attach to a flat surface and change into an orange, dome-shaped pupa. A few days later, a fully formed ladybug will emerge.
