Landscape Plants- Books

Q: I’m looking for a book that will help identify landscape plants. I currently own “Landscape Plants” by Ferrell M. Bidwell. I would like to acquire a manual that addresses more plant material and, if possible, one concentrating on plants in Georgia.

A: Rex Bishop has been a horticulture instructor at Gwinnett Tech and at North Metro Tech for many years. He saw the need for a book filled with photographs to use as a manual for his students. His book, “A Field Guide to Woody Plants of the Southeast” (Tea Olive Productions,
$70) is excellent. It contains color photos of 230 common trees and shrubs. You can order it from Rex at 770-317-9484 or online from Amazon.com.
