Q: Approximately 12 years ago we had 2 cypress trees planted in an area near an inground pool. They are now approximately 25 to 30 feet tall and we are afraid that they could fall into our pool if we have a bad storm. Is it possible for us to safely trim these trees?
A: Leyland cypress is trimmed to all shapes and sizes in England so I imagine you can do the same here.
The very best time would be in March but you can safely do it in all of the warm months up until September. The top will look brown and flat for a few
months but it will green up again next year.
