Q: I limit my gardening nowadays to pot gardening mostly. I have been successful with potting soil, but wonder about the “outdoor container soil” you wrote about using for tomatoes in a pot. I’ve never seen container soil locally.
A: I mentioned “container soil” specifically because there is a difference between it and most potting soils. Container soil is designed and mixed to perform best outdoors. It drains more quickly and may have wetting agents, fertilizer and moisture control crystals in it. Read the label of your prospective potting soil purchase and make sure it is meant for outdoor plants. In my experience, a higher price usually equates a better soil.
