Q: We are considering the possibility of planting some pecans in a low lying area that get flooded every 8-10 years. The water then stands up to about 1 meter deep for 2-4 weeks, can you tell me if a pecan tree will survive, standing in water, for such a long time?

If not can you point me in the direction of someone that might be able to tell me?

A: Pecans are somewhat flood tolerant…. it all depends on when and how long the water stands.
