Q: What is the proper soil temperature needed to plant garden seeds, such as beans, peas, etc?
A: Warm season vegetables like beans, tomatoes and corn need a soil temperature of at least 60 degrees but they germinate even better at 70 degrees. Looking at www.georgiaweather.net, the data for nearby Dallas, GA shows that in 2006 soil temperatures were good for planting after April 14.
