Spiced Pecans – Recipe

I occasionally shared food recipes on my radio show. When a caller asked for details about spiced pecans, I got three good ones emailed to me. Here they are:

Recipe #1

I heard today radio listener who wanted to know how to prepare spiced pecans. Here is a recipe I got from a friend whose mother had used it for 40 years, and I have used with great success for over 25 years:

Dissolve 1/3 C sugar in 2 tblsp water and 1 egg white

Add 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp each: cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice

Stir in 2 cups pecans, coating each piece.

Melt 2 tblsp butter in baking sheet (with a rim)

Spread pecans over the butter.

Bake – 250 for 1 hour, stir two or three times.

Cool. Stir often. Enjoy!

Recipe #3

2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce (I use a little more for an added kick)

1 1/2 Tablespoons margarine

1 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cup pecans

Mix together, spread on baking sheet, put in oven at 300 degrees for 20-30 minutes

This is absolutely wonderful. The Worcestershire gives a zesty kick to
the pecans. It’s quite a surprise to the tastebuds when you are expecting the sugary coating.
