“This insect is indeed a major concern to anyone who has hemlocks. As far as I know, it has been found in only Rabun county in Georgia, but may be beyond that area. We have put together a webpage with some links and basic information about hemlock adelgid at:

“There is a quite a bit of research underway to try to develop control
options. Much of the research effort is focused on biological control since hemlocks are usually found in very biologically sensitive areas and pesticides are frequently not an option.
