Plants – For Damp Areas
Q: How do I get rid of mold and mildew from the area where my air conditioner drains into my yard?
A: Why not make lemonade out of the “lemony” wet spot and install plants that like wet feet?
There are many plants from which to choose. Virginia sweetspire, sweet shrub, canna, iris, curly sedge, cardinal flower and ‘Gateway’ Joe-pye weed would be happy to make their home in the area near your air-conditioner.
Mix a 2 cubic foot bag of soil conditioner into a ten square foot area to prepare the spot for the plants you select. Then sit back and enjoy some real lemonade to reward your effort.
