Q: A few weeks ago, you wrote about controlling weeds in zoysiagrass with Roundup weed killer. Can I use Roundup on my zoysia lawn?
A: The label on Roundup does not include zoysia as one of the approved turf grasses on which to use the chemical. Some people have used it successfully, in defiance of the label. Many others have been surprised to find a dead lawn in May, as a result of spraying the weed killer on zoysia turf that was not fully dormant. Warm, sunny days bring zoysia out of dormancy rapidly. Unless you like to gamble, and disobey the law, don't use this product in a manner inconsistent with the label.
