Notes:

This is my mystery plant – a volunteer that came up in my raised bed. It is now over 7 feet tall, has fern-like leaves with sweet-pea-like yellow flowers that drop down. Most unusual and I would love to know what it really is. Thank you so much!!

I believe you are right. Everything about the cassia marilandica matches my plant except for the flowers. Mine drop down on a 4 inch stem with the flowers congregated towards the end of the stem, they are much smaller (half the diameter of a dime) and have the sweet pea shape. The leaves and branches are almost an exact match so mine must be some variety of this plant. Thank you so much for clearing up the mystery – now I just wonder how in the world it came to my raised garden bed.
