Notes:
We recently bought a house in north Florida, and this shrub is by the front door. At first I thought it might be an un-pruned rhododendron, but it has these hard seed-pods. I haven’t seen the flowers yet, but I’m guessing it’s a spring bloomer. And in need of pruning! Any suggestions? I’m new to southern gardening, so I’d love some help!

This is a Pittosporum tobira with seed cases. As I recall, they can be pruned or sheared quite mercilessly, so have at it.
