Notes:
The tall leafy parts of this plant have been growing for 3 yrs now. Suddently these shoots came up near it with the same stem that have a “thing” on them and now I’m curious what this is?? Thanks for any ideas.

The cones are turning red but they must be sapping all the energy out of the plant because it looks sick with yellow all around the leaves and wilty looking despite all the rain we’ve had. Can I just cut the cones off so the plant might get healthier?
