Notes:
Several years ago, my husband and I received several tree seedlings from The Arbor Day Foundation for a donation that we gave them. My husband and I tried planting all of them but this is the only one that withstood the test of time.
We’ve long since thrown away the identification list and my husband and I have differing opinions on what kind of tree it is. I think it’s a type of Dogwood and my husband thinks its a Redbud. It blooms beautifully like this in the spring and then stays green throughout the year. Can you help us out?

My first thought was an Apple or Peach tree. The blossoms resemble those. If this tree does not bear any fruit then my next guess would be a Japanese flowering cherry. You can go to arborday.org and look at trees in a database they have.

This is a Serviceberry (Amelanchier x grandiflora). It is a great spring flowering tree with wonderful fall color.

My redbud tree did not shed the seed pods and looked ghostly all winter. It now has some leaves at the ends of branches. I think it is in the process of dying as I thought it already had. I feel I must cut it down as it will never fully recover. Am I correct? Thanks, Jamalyn Cannon
