Common name: Oregon Grape. Native to the Pacific Northwest. It is a beautiful plant, and fruit is edible, if a little on the sour side. It has been popular as an ornamental shrub. Unfortunately, it can be an undesirable invasive. If left alone, it can take over a forest understory: witness the Fernbank forest in Decatur, GA.
