Notes:
I just bought this house in February. There was no plant like this in the bed at that time. But as spring and summer arrived, it hasn’t stopped growing. And it’s taking over other plants that were there. What is it? The small picture shows a detail from the end of a branch/frond.

One of my friends said that it had a faint odor of some kind of herb, so I guess she recognized the fennel part in it. I definitely think I’ll have to move it because I want evergreens in front of the house. Maybe I’ll put it near the neighbor’s wire fence so it will provide interest there and we won’t notice when it succumbs to winter. Thanks for your information. Now, I’ll go look up dog fennel and see what else I can learn about it.

Looks like dog fennel. When dog fennel blooms it surprisingly has a pleasant scent… As do the other eupatoriums. Plus there are a number of pollinators attracted to the plant. In the winter, the stalks often have frost blooms at my house… Pretty neat plant, but you probably don’t want to eat it… I used to add the tips of the plant to my salads… And then I googled the plant… Everybody said don’t eat it…. So I stopped.
