Discoverd black spots on bermuda grass two days ago. Brushed across spots and dust came off. Residue on hands. I have not added any fertilizer or any chemicals to yard.

Having the same trouble… What is this?

Slime Mold (fungus – Physarum sp. and Fuligo sp.): It is not considered a turf pathogen as it derives its nurishment from decaying organic matter splashed upon the leaves and stems rather from the grass blades it is on. The dark gray-to-black crust-like material will wash off under a medium water pressure with your garden hose. At the most there could be some turf yellowing due to reduced chlorophyll production caused by the leaf shading of the mold.
