I love crape mrytle trees and have many in my yard. Nothing seems to bother it…not even the mama deer and her triplets born this year in my yard. This is the 3rd yr. she has born her babies in my yard. But, my question is that they lose their thin bark every year. Does this mean it is dying….if so, why do they come back every yr.. Also, this bodark tree….growing up in south central texas, we were always told they were “horse apples”. Yet I find that nowhere in any of these articles about it. Can you help?
