Notes:
This first happened last year and returned this year. The woody sections of these 2 crepe start to leaf out, then the leaves turn black/die, eventually the woody parts die. The image shows the suckers growing well with very little of the original wood still alive. What is happening? Crepes seem to flower fine from the suckers. No other crepes in our yard are doing this. Thank you.

Walter: I have a crepe myrtle about 12-15′ tall and about 16 years old. It is a 12 trunk, beautifully shaped tree, however for the past two years, has not bloomed very much. It was sprayed this year for some kind of mite which had shriviled up the leaves. The landscape company for our HOA (not professionals)normally cuts back all crepe myrtles but not severely. What kind of nutrient can I use, either spray or fertilizer plugs? Also someone at Pikes advised that I should reduce the number of trunks. Should I? Thank You, Dick Nolan
