Hi walter and Bobby hope this is a better shot of my cypress or cedar with the Star shaped seed pods trying to determine if I can trim or shape it like Topiary to make it a nicely shaped privacy hedge

I am so glad you tried again and your results are wonderful! I am hoping some others will comment on pruning results for the particular variety that you have. The last needled evergreen shrub I pruned is still mad at me. I do believe it hisses at me everytime I walk by. Poor thing.
