Notes:
Can’t tell if this came from a mixed bag of ‘corn flower’ seeds or how it got here. Someone suggested it might be nettles? Have a dog that is now having allergy issues that didn’t before and this is one of the new plants in the yard this year.

Hi Tanya, Thank you so much for the feed back. I’m not an expert in botany, my guessing is only base on a photo showed only part of the plant. So I could be wrong in my guessing. I wish the nursery was able to pinpoint which species this is. Since there 200-400 in this genus to choose from. Another place to check out this plant is your local agriculture branch. Not able to see your flower bed looks like. I’m not clear about:”single sprig”. Do you mean a single plant? Goldenrod in my experience, it self-seed anywhere it pleases, I didn’t even plant any of it on my own. Best wishes!

The local nursery said it was Artemisia species – which shouldn’t cause an allergic reaction in dogs. The thing that has me wondering is there was a single sprig of goldenrod in the middle of all this Artemisia – just seems really odd to me.

I’m wondering if this might be a species of goldenrod (Solidago). You will know more when these flower buds bloom. https://www.google.com/search?q=solidago&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0CIUBEIkeahUKEwi1ufrX67HIAhVFiQ0KHaFWAJg&biw=1920&bih=909#tbm=isch&q=green+solidago&imgrc=YRAl-LcEarCYXM%3A
