Leatherleaf Mahonia or by its botanical name Mahonia bealei

One of my favorite shade plants! It’s not a fern and I have heard it is related to barberry. I have seen all kinds of birds eat the berries.

    Zeb,
Redbirds (Cardinals) love the fruit. I sit in my study and watch them pick the fruit off. They also re-seed them.
