What is this fern? What birds will eat the berries?
This is a mahonia, not a fern.
this one is also a Leatherleaf Mahonia. all sorts of birds will eat the berries.
I’m a student at Gwinnett Tech. http://www.gwinnetttech.edu/horticulture/
Leatherleaf Mahonia or by its botanical name Mahonia bealei
One of my favorite shade plants! It’s not a fern and I have heard it is related to barberry. I have seen all kinds of birds eat the berries.
That is a leatherleaf mahonia ‘mahonia bealii’. Not sure what birds eat them.
Zeb, Redbirds (Cardinals) love the fruit. I sit in my study and watch them pick the fruit off. They also re-seed them.
