I have a shaded backyard that is mostly overgrown. I found a few of these plants and am wondering what it is.
Flower or weed?

I don’t like having violets around. They are nice when they stay in your shaded flower beds, but mine tend to get in the lawn where I am at war against them. They are VERY difficult to get rid of. They are all a weed on my property and all subject to being pulled.

Kudzu, bamboo, Chinese privet — none of those invasive demons holds a candle to this one. KILL IT, KILL IT, KILL IT. No chemical will do it — you have to manually dig it, with a forked tool. Even then, if the tiniest bit of root is left — you’re toast. As I say: KILL IT, KILL IT, KILL IT, whatever way you can. Good luck…….
