This plant sprang up in my flowerpot, and I decided to see what it would do. It is now about 4’tall, has alternate toothed leaves with pink veins. The stem is smooth but has four pink ridges which makes it square. There are tiny white lines on the stem that I thought might develop into thorns, but they have not. The leaves are about 5″ wide at the base and about 7″ long. Help!

I’m thinking Cottonwood. Any other guesses?
