Notes:
Leaves have a pungent burnt rubber smell to them. Prefers shade and lots of water. Has not flowered yet.

I finally found some good pictures of Viburnum sieboldii, and it looks like Laura’s right. A better visual match, and got the smell to boot.

Don’t know anything about the smell, but the leaves look a lot like alder (alnus).

This might be Siebold Viburnum (Viburnum siboldii). The leaves’ pungent odor is a characteristic of this species. V. sieboldii is listed on the Invasive Plants in Pennsylvania. http://www.hort.uconn.edu/plants/detail.php?pid=538
