Notes:
My brother in north-central Ohio has this unknown plant growing in his onion row. As it might be the last surviving one on Earth (doubtful) he does not want to destroy it until it is known what it is. All I have is the picture that he sent me. In reference to size you can see a couple onions and a “Buried Telephone Line” flag.

Linda and Stone, I am excited! After working up to page 68 of Walter’s “Name that Plant” I decided to skip to the end, page 184. The first entry I think is “our plant”. It is kind of ironic but my brother’s picture and that picture were taken on July 1st, but 4 years apart. Here are a couple of links: http://www.walterreeves.com/name-that-plant/page/184/ http://www.walterreeves.com/gardening-q-and-a/devils-claw-identification/ What is new to me is old stuff to many.

I’m surprised to see flowers on one so small…. Looks like catalpa. http://forestry.ohiodnr.gov/catalpa I would totally keep it… And plant the onions elsewhere.
