Notes:
I just moved into a new rental and found this growing just outside. I’m not quite sure what it is. It stayed green through winter with it’s leaves laying flat against the ground, now the leaves have perked up and new leaves are starting to grow.

the leaves resemble columbine, but not sure…

I tried to update the post but I’m not sure that it worked. The plant has put up a stalk with similar, smaller leaves, it has small yellow flowers with 5 petals. Any ideas?

Can you try again with the picture of the flower? Looks like maybe buttercup to me.

Not columbine, buttercup or possibly geranium.

I’ll have to wait until spring to get a picture of the flower. After the flower gives way to the seed pod, the pod is maybe 1/4 inch and has small spikes, that’s the best i can do for now.

Yep, sounds more and more like a buttercup. Maybe not this exact one but check out their picture and info.

Hey stone, check the earlier comments. The flowers are yellow so they say.

The buttercup in the link looks very similar except for the leaf shape, but thats the closest match so far.
