Notes:

We have an “Angel Plant” from Hermann Engelmann Greenhouses. We emailed the information from the tag on the pot to Engelmann’s online email address (no response in several days). The leaves have a hairy/furry covering; the stems are reddish, and from an angle the leaves have a reddish cast with the edges also being red. We would like to identify the plant to know how to care for it. Thanks.

Update 9/9/10: I’ve been my own sleuth. Persistent Internet search reveals that my plant is called Brown Spiderwort or Bears Ears. It originates from Eastern Brazil, and can have clustered small purple flowers about 1 inch. Scientific name is Siderasis Fuscata. (Pictures at TopTropicals.com.) “Requires a little extra care.” See plant care at http://www.plantcare.com/encyclopedia/brown-spiderwort-1100.aspx.

I have looked everywhere for this siderasis plant without success…where did you find yours?
