I have called it this but can’t find any information about whether that is the common name. It grows low to the ground and blooms with a yellow flower in the spring. Blooms about the same time as creeping periwinkle

Yes, indeedy, Walter, it’s a pest! A rapidly creeping groundcover, and like vinca (periwinkle), without much to recommend it — kill it! How much finer a groundcover is ajuga, or even better, epimedium, mondo, or helleborus.
