Notes:
This is growing in multiple places around my home. It’s not a big problem as of right now, but I don’t know if it might turn out to be a nightmare in the future. I have searched and searched, talked to a few local people and I still have no idea what it truly is. It grows fast. It is vining. I haven’t noticed any berries, flowers or such. The vine does have a lot of red color to it. Does anyone know what this really is??? I want to know to read up on it to determine if removal is needed. Thanks

Bobby…THANK YOU for your help! I clicked on the links you attached and after viewing the example photos I thought this was not what I have growing because there are no flowers or berries but, then I started reading the links you attached. The description is spot on! I realize from the reading that the flowers and berries will appear shortly, as it is a bit early for them yet. I have no doubt now that Japanese Honeysuckle is exactly what I have growing around my house now. I can’t thank you enough! I realize after reading that this plant has some pros and cons so I plan a two fold effort. I will remove with a vengeance the plant that is growing in places that could become a potential problem in the future with its ‘over consuming ability’. I will allow it to remain in other areas that would make it an attractive and useful plant but, I will maintain it. It sounds like it is a strong, aggressive plant so if I keep it cut back and thinned I think maybe we could benefit from the pros and ward off the cons of this plant. Thank you for helping me with the identification so I could educate myself to aid in developing a plan of action!!!

The previous link treated honeysuckle a little more warm and fuzzy that it should be treated. Get rid of it. http://www.gaeppc.org/weeds/honeysuckle.html
