Notes:

Hello Everyone!

This plant was potted after receiving a clipping from a friend and allowed to root in a glass of water. We are both unsure what plant it is though. My friend received the plant abroad and is somewhat sure that the plant genus begins with a “C.” I tried looking through a database of Coleus spp. plants, but did not find anything that had such a unique leaf pattern. It appears that each node on the stem has two pedicles 180 degrees apart.

Thank you!

You are right it is a coleus and one that is called Duck’s Foot in reference to the leaf shape.

I agree. Bought one like this a year or so ago from a local greenhouse. Extremely fast grower and also produces flower stalks very fast. Nice plant, enjoy.

You’re on the right track. It definitely looks like a Coleus. There are many, many different varieties and new ones every year, but care needs are pretty much the same.
