Notes:

This is the base of an impatiens plant (photo 1). They’re breaking off at the base and falling over. It’s spreading through the whole bed (photo 2). Can anyone help with a cause and cure?

I have the same problem – Summer 2011. I just can’t believe it’s over watering. I went away for a couple of hot days and the beds weren’t watered. It had started in one spot when I returned home and then spread throughout the bed. I’ve replanted and it’s starting again. Any thoughts anyone??? Thanks….I love my impatiens and this is so disappointing!

I have the same problem and I also was told possible over watering and planting too close together. This year I planted further apart and made sure to only water when needed. I have these plants in window boxes and only one so far has this problem. The window box is in the sun and the others are in part shade. Does anyone know what this is and how to prevent it?
