Notes:
I found this growing wild by our road and the leaves sure smell just like basil. I’d love to transplant and keep to use in recipies if it truly is. I can’t imagine it being anything else but want to be sure before ingesting it.

Apologies… I can see the picture now… couldn’t at noon… so made a wag Definitely basil… go ahead and use it…Basil transplants, roots in soil/water… Not aggressive like perilla.

Probably perilla frutescens. Weedy. Transplants very easily, and will come back with a vengeance.
