Notes:

Hi all, I’m new to gardening. I had 3 hydrangea plants last year that didn’t quite make it through the season. This year I have the plant pictured growing there the hydrangeas were. Did I get lucky & they made it after all? Or is this just a weed? Thanks for your help!

It’s not a weed until after you’ve positively identified it… Until then, it’s likely a wildflower in disguise. . I doubt that you’ve got a returning hydrangea. It may be a fleabane daisy, but until it blooms, it will be difficult to be certain.
