Notes:
We recently moved to a house on the bay in RI, and this plant grows through our neighbor’s fence, into our yard. The edges are serrated, but it is three leaves and a vine. I don’t think it’s a Virginia creeper as there are no 5 leaf clusters. Any help is appreciated.

It doesn’t look like the poison oak or ivy around here.

This is not poison ivy. For helpful information on how to accurately identify poison ivy, check out this blog post: http://identifythatplant.com/poison-ivy-looks-similar-to-virginia-creeper/
If your plant has thorny stems, then I would suggest it might be some type of dewberry which is a vining type of Rubus spp. (blackberries and raspberries).
