Dear Walter Reeves,
I want my lawn to be populated by grass, but after a while of no treatments these wild grass inhabit more of my lawn.
Do you know the name of this wild plant, and if so, how should I proceed to eliminate them.

Bobby Unregistered says:
Looks like your have some crabgrass and annual Jewgrass. Sounds like at some point you stopped treating your lawn. Unfortunately with annual weeds the battle never ends. A short hiatus of a year might allow a few weeds but anymore time will certainly invite a weedy lawn. I would guess in New York state you would be growing a cool season lawn. Seeding time is just around the corner. Check this link with Cornell University for some state specific info on turf care. http://www.hort.cornell.edu/turf/
