Notes:

About a month before school let out, my 6 year-old Allie brought home a tiny sprouted plant in a plastic cup-a school project where she learned all about how plants use photosynthesis to make their own food. She was so proud of it and excited to watch it grow. I wasn’t sure it would live, but I put it in the kitchen window and watered it each day when I did dishes. She would check and ask me if I watered it. Surprise to me, it didn’t die; it grew tall fast. I just don’t what kind of plant it is.

It looks to me like either a tropical milkweed or a phlox. I’d bet on the milkweed… Plant it in the garden, see if the monarchs use it!
